About CodeWave

Engineering better ways to do business.

CodeWave Systems is a Kenyan software development company building custom software, digital platforms and integrated business systems for organizations that need technology to work around their operations.

01 · Who we are

A software engineering company, not a web design agency.

We design, build, integrate, deploy and support the software that businesses run on. Most of our work sits deep inside an operation — at the till, in the back office, between a business and its bank — where the software has to be right, and has to keep working.

CodeWave is based in Nairobi and works with organisations of very different sizes and sectors: financial institutions, retailers, schools, insurers, property managers and growing businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets. What they have in common is a process that matters and a need for technology that fits it.

02 · Our approach

From the business to the system, in order.

Seven steps, always in this sequence. Skipping one is how software ends up fighting the operation it was meant to serve.

  1. 01

    Understand the business

We start with the people who run the process — what they do, what slows them down and what "working" would look like.

  2. 02

    Map the workflow

Roles, hand-offs, exceptions and data are mapped as they actually happen, not as the org chart says.

  3. 03

    Design the architecture

Data model, system boundaries, integrations and hosting are decided before production code is written.

  4. 04

    Build the product

Engineered in short, reviewable increments with automated tests and regular demos.

  5. 05

    Integrate systems

Payments, banking, SMS, accounting and existing software connected, reconciled and tested end to end.

  6. 06

    Deploy

Production environments provisioned, secured and monitored; data migrated; users trained.

  7. 07

    Support and improve

Maintenance, updates and new capabilities under a clear support agreement, for as long as you run the system.

03 · Engineering principles

What we hold ourselves to on every system.

These are not slogans — they are the review criteria for every design decision and every release.

  1. 01

    Business-first thinking

The system serves the operation, not the other way round.

  2. 02

    Clean architecture

Clear boundaries and data models that stay understandable as the system grows.

  3. 03

    Security

Roles, audit trails, encrypted secrets and hardened environments by default.

  4. 04

    Scalability

Designed to take on more branches, tenants and users without a rewrite.

  5. 05

    Maintainability

Readable code, documentation and tests so the next change is as safe as the first.

  6. 06

    Performance

Fast at the till, the counter and the dashboard — measured, not assumed.

  7. 07

    Integration

Built to connect: APIs, webhooks and payment rails treated as core features.

  8. 08

    Long-term support

Every system runs under monitoring and an ongoing support agreement.

04 · Technology

Engineering capabilities, chosen per project.

Mature, well-supported technology that can be hosted, secured and staffed for in Kenya. The stack for each system is picked to suit that system — not the other way round.

Backend
PHP Laravel ASP.NET Core
Frontend
Vue Inertia Blazor Tailwind CSS
Data
MySQL SQL Server Redis

05 · Kenya

Built in Nairobi. Working with businesses in Kenya and beyond.

CodeWave is a Kenyan technology company. That shows in the work: M-Pesa integrations taken through Safaricom go-live, systems that tolerate real-world connectivity, hosting choices that respect local data requirements, and discovery sessions held on the shop floor rather than over a form.

We work with organisations across Kenya, and remotely with clients outside the country who want the same engineering discipline. Engagements are scoped in writing, delivered in phases and supported after go-live, wherever the client is.

  • M-Pesa Daraja integrations, including the go-live process
  • Kenyan statutory rules in payroll and finance modules
  • Local or cloud hosting to suit data and connectivity needs
  • On-site discovery and training where it helps
