01 · Project overview
What was built, and for whom.
Furnitures Kenya is an online furniture store CodeWave built for a business that makes its pieces to order. Shoppers browse collections, filter and search the catalogue, and place orders without creating an account. The team manages categories, products, homepage content, pages and a journal from its own admin area, and moves every order through production stages while recording payment separately.

02 · Business challenge
The problem, as the business experienced it.
Furniture built to order does not fit an off-the-shelf shop: there is no stock count, every order goes into production, and customers across Kenya need a clear way to order and follow up.
A built-to-order business sells lead times rather than stock levels. The store needed to present pieces well, take orders reliably and give the team a clear picture of what is in production.
- No inventory: a piece is either offered or it is not
- Prices and totals that customers cannot tamper with
- Orders from anywhere in Kenya, with delivery details captured properly
- Content the team can update without a developer
03 · Our approach
How we got from the problem to the system.
CodeWave built a framework-free PHP storefront with a searchable catalogue, guest checkout for all 47 counties, and an admin workflow that tracks each order from confirmation through production to delivery.
-
01
Build the catalogue
One catalogue engine powers the shop, search and category pages, with price ranges, sale filters, sorting and two-level categories.
-
02
Make checkout dependable
Basket prices are re-read from the database, totals recomputed on the server, and orders saved in a transaction with a reference and a private confirmation page.
-
03
Follow the order
Orders move from pending to confirmed, in production, ready and delivered, with payment status, notes and a history of every change.
-
04
Hand over the content
An editable homepage, pages, a menu builder, a journal with authors and an installable app experience, all managed from the admin area.
04 · Solution architecture
